Josantony Joseph

Josantony Joseph is a theologian, social activist and author, visiting from Mumbai, India.  He currently serves as Advisor to the Commissioner appointed by the Supreme Court of India on the Right to Food.

Josantony was instrumental in setting up the National Centre for Advocacy Studies to introduce the formal study of advocacy methods for civil society groups in India.

He is on the board of Creative Handicrafts, a women's cooperative in Mumbai and of SOPPECOM an organization working on the right to water and sanitation in India.

Josantony has previously visited Canada as a partner of Development and Peace.

The event is co-sponsored by Development and Peace (Toronto Council), Canadian Jesuits International, Jesuit Forum for Social Faith and Justice and the Mary Ward Centre.
